Made. Not Manufactured
By Hand, By Heart
Behind every design are skilled local artisans who pour their heart and soul into each piece. Their traditional craftsmanship makes every item one-of-a-kind, and every piece you bring home helps their story reach a little further.
A 500-Year-Old Tradition, Still Untouched by Machines
Where This Craft Began
Hand block printing is one of the oldest textile traditions in the world, with roots in India stretching back over 500 years.
It flourished in regions like Rajasthan, where cities such as Jaipur and Bagru became known for turning hand-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes into some of the most celebrated prints in textile history.
The technique has barely changed since — no machines, no shortcuts, just wood, dye, fabric, and a steady hand, passed down through generations of artisan families.
That's the same tradition our artisans carry forward today, in every piece we make.
Carved by Hand, Passed Down for Generations
The Carving
Long before a single print appears on fabric, our artisans are carving it — by hand, into wood, one careful cut at a time. It's slow work. It takes patience, a steady hand, and an eye trained over years, sometimes generations. Each block is more than a tool.
It's a small piece of heritage, carrying a pattern that's been carved and re-carved, passed from one artisan's hands to the next.
No Two Prints Ever Land the Same
The Stamp
Once carved, the block is dipped in dye and pressed onto fabric — stamp by stamp, by hand, until the pattern comes to life. There's no machine that can replicate this.
Every slight shift in pressure, every small imperfection, becomes part of the design. It's not a flaw. It's proof that someone made this, one stamp at a time.
That's the beauty we build every piece around — imperfection in perfection.
From Fabric to Finish
Shaped by Hand
Every lampshade starts as a length of fabric and a bare frame — nothing more. From fabric selection to the final stitch, each one is shaped entirely by hand, in a slow, careful process with no shortcuts. It's this hands-on attention, at every step, that gives each piece its quiet sense of craftsmanship.
This is the craft we fell in love with — and the reason homeway living exists. Every piece you bring home carries their hands in it, as much as ours.
